Background

Sherry Stewart, P.Eng. is the principal of ebend engineering.  She has over 25 years experience in engineering with 20 years specializing in HVAC Building Automation Systems.  Her technical expertise includes an in-depth understanding of how mechanical systems and building components should function based on the latest design practices.

Past Experience

Morrison Hershfield Limited: Sherry joined Morrison Hershfield in 2008 as a senior engineer.

 

Major projects included:

 

 

John E. Brownlee Building (2012) - Replace terminal boxes and controls on one floor of a 10 story office building.

 

Northern and Southern Jubilee Auditoria (2012) - Replace the building management and control system at both sites.

 

Alberta Innovates Technology Futures (2012) - Several projects at this site including, terminal box pneumatic controls upgrade, EMCS network upgrade to fibre optics, feasibility study to upgrade the existing fume hood exhausts, building pressurization study.

 

Edmonton Young Offender's Centre (2011) - Replace the building management and control system.

 

South Edmonton Transit Facility (2010) - Member of the design team responsible for the EMCS design for this LEED Silver building with over 850 control points.  This facility is a state-of-the art bus maintenance garage designed for over 250 busses.

Suncord Engineering Ltd.: Sherry worked with Suncord from 1994 to 2008.

 

Major projects included:

 

 

Land Titles Building - EMCS Upgrade -Replace the existing EMCS at the Old Land Titles Building.  A subsequent project included upgrading all of the existing terminal boxes to EMCS control.

 

Law Courts Building – Preheat Coils and Chiller Upgrade -Provide preheat coils in the main air systems including EMCS controls.  A subsequent project upgraded the chiller and the associated EMCS controls.

 

Alberta Research Council  - Fibre Optic Network Upgrade -Upgrade the EMCS communications network with a new fibre optic network.  The project also included adding wireless notebook access throughout the facility.  Several projects have been done at the Research Council including replacement of the EMCS system, pressurization study and small renovations.

 

Capital Care Lynnwood - Fire & Smoke Damper and EMCS Upgrade -Replace the existing Building Management System.  Upgrade the smoke control dampers to EMCS control.  Provide custom control software and graphics.

 

RCMP 'K' Division, Edmonton - Building Controls -New EMCS system for a new police headquarters complex.  Project also included full EMCS point-by-point verification and sequence of operation verification.

 

Alberta Legislature - Chiller Upgrade -Replace the existing chiller and associated EMCS controls for the Alberta Legislature.

 

Alberta Legislature Building – Upgrade EMCS System -Replace the EMCS system for the facility.  This project also included providing custom control software and graphics.

 

Queen Elizabeth II Hospital Grande Prairie - EMCS Upgrade -Replace the EMCS system for the hospital including custom control software and graphics.

 

John E. Brownlee Building - EMCS Replacement -Replace the EMCS system.  Provide point-by-point commissioning, custom control software and graphics.

 

University of Alberta Hospital Smoke Control Upgrade -Provide new EMCS to replace hard wired smoke control system at the hospital. This project included custom control software and graphics.

 

LRT - City of Edmonton – EMCS Upgrade -Upgrade the EMCS system at all LRT stations.  Provide point-by-point commissioning.

 

Coal Research Centre, Devon – EMCS Upgrade -Replace the existing EMCS.  Provide custom software and graphics.

Colt Engineering: Sherry worked with Colt from 1992 to 1994 as an instrumentation engineer designing industrial PLC systems, writing software and creating graphics.

VisionSmart: Sherry started her career with a research and development company building an automated feature detection system for the lumber industry.  She was heavily involved with pattern recognition software development using C and assembler programming languages.

Education

Sherry graduated from the University of Alberta in 1988 with a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering.
